OpenBSD
Operating System
OpenBSD is the premier Operating System for paranoid security
applications. It's simple design and frequent code audits
make it one of the most secure Operating Systems available.
Since it does not cost anything to license this OS and
it is ultra-secure, it is the perfect Operating System
for a Firewall. Currently we're shipping firewalls based
on the stable tree of the 3.3 branch (the released version
with all the patches applied). All clients have access
to our stable distribution which we update on Mercury
Managed Firewalls every night. |
Snort
IDS
Snort is a GPL licensed Network Intrusion Detection System
(NIDS or IDS). Many commercial products use Snort as their
IDS engine and it's overall quality and free license has
lead to it becoming the standard IDS that others are judged
against. |
Squid
Web Proxy
An HTTP (Web) proxy server saves bandwidth by saving
previously viewed web pages in a cache. This reduces
the load on your Internet from Web Surfing and increases
security by stopping your client machines from directly
connecting to an untrusted Internet Host. |
Graphical
Monitoring Console
A Graphical Monitoring Console makes the ongoing process
of security easy. Our system displays graphical IDS logs,
networking statistics, system health check statistics,

Mercury Firewall contains powerful Open Source and Open
Standard VPN ability. As a network gateway for office
to office VPN's or for client Remote Access, the Mercury
Firewall supports IPSEC, PPTP, SSL, SSH, and many other

Packet Filter

you need a Stateful Packet Filter. We use the OpenBSD
PF Stateful Packet Filter, a high performance Firewall
Module packaged with OpenBSD. |

NAT module
OpenBSD PF also includes a secure NAT (Network Address
Translation) module for masquerading addresses and publishing
secure servers on a DMZ. |
